I'm back as a MRS

Sep 1, 2008

i know it's been quite some time since my last post... let me just say this:

planning a wedding consumes your life, i was barely able to keep up with my family, friends, and fiance... let alone set aside time to blog.  so, let me say i'm sorry for spending so much time away. and to those of you loyal readers - you'll be happy to know that the wedding recaps are about to begin!

i'll leave you with one of my favorite photos from our wedding... it was taken by our photographer - Michael Erdkamp of Memories by Michael.
if you'd like to see more of Michael's work from our wedding, he put together a slideshow of that day check it out here.

sunset... an important time of day

Apr 30, 2008

today i spoke with our photog Michael about the timing of our wedding ceremony. after meeting with our planner at the venue she suggested we have our photog view the site given the guests and photos of our ceremony will be take almost due west.

he has a handy little tool i'd like to share with you... it was very helpful in planning the time for our e pics just before sunset this past november and it also has helped us determine our ceremony start time too!

here's what our wedding daylight looks like

i hope this can be a helpful tool for anyone else
making their outdoor wedding day plans work around sunset as well!

also, fyi, if you have a really good photographer like us, he or she can still shoot no matter if the sun happens to be setting as you exchange your vows.  we will actually be having a 5:45 or 6pm ceremony, and hope to avoid blinding many of our guests.

(a e-pic that we used to make our save the date magnet)

ok i'll admit that i kinda just jumped head first when we found our photographer...

sure, i looked into a few others options in the area,
but i really just fell in love as soon as my friend Michelle showed me her slideshow from Memories by Michael Photography!

he has a spontaneous, yet sweet photo-journalistic style.
here are a few links to his previous wedding slideshows

(these are some demos he emailed me)

and here are some of our engagement pics
hope you like them!
